Houston Airports is thrilled to announce the latest developments in its award-winning performing arts program, Harmony in the Air. Following the program's recognition for the second consecutive year as the 2024 Best Airport Art & Entertainment Program in the World by Skytrax, the initiative is expanding its reach and enriching the passenger experience at both George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU).
With the recent approval from Houston City Council, Harmony in the Air has secured funding to welcome 11 new musical groups, further diversifying the program's offerings. These talented professional musicians, including five quartets, two trios, and two solo performers, will begin captivating audiences beginning in July with a vibrant repertoire encompassing classical, jazz, country western, Latino music, pop and R&B.
"We are incredibly excited to introduce these exceptional musicians to Harmony in the Air," said Maricela Kruseman, Founder and Program Director. "Their arrival marks a significant step in our program's growth, allowing us to touch the lives of even more passengers with the beauty and power of live music."
SPECIAL PERFORMANCE | A special highlight to note is the upcoming performance by Apollo Chamber Players featuring guest pianist Tugce Ozcivan. This collaboration will take place on Mondays, May 13th and 20th, from 11 AM to noon at HOU, where Ms. Ozcivan will perform Schumann's piano quintet alongside the Apollo Chamber Players.
Passengers flying through IAH and HOU can expect a new and dynamic schedule of performances beginning in July. At Bush Airport, Harmony in the Air performances take place every weekday in the Terminal A Connector Gallery and on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Terminal E. At Hobby Airport, Harmony in the Air performances take place in the Central Concourse Rotunda.
As Houston Airports prepares to unveil the ultra-modern D-West Pier at IAH this year, Harmony in the Air stands poised to further elevate the passenger experience within this world-class facility. By providing a soundtrack to air travel, the program not only enhances passenger enjoyment but also strengthens Houston's reputation as a global aviation hub that prioritizes cultural enrichment.
A total of 27 musical groups participate in Harmony in the Air. The performers are featured on a rotating schedule at Bush and Hobby airports.
