Houston Airports Irregular Operations Emergency Plans (IROPS)

George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and William P. Hobby (HOU) Airports have each developed an Emergency Contingency Plan in accordance with §42301 of the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012. Both airports are submitting these plans to the Department of Transportation as commercial airports.

These plans ensure Houston Airports are prepared to handle irregular operations effectively and provide a safe and efficient travel experience for all passengers.

  • Facilitate passenger deplanement following excessive tarmac delays.
  • Share facilities and provide gates at the airport.
  • Establish a sterile area for passengers awaiting United States Customs & Border Protection (CBP) clearance.
